What was the book about?

Chanda’s mother passed away 6 months ago and she has to raise her brother and sister up. She had to stop going school, start working and get some money for her and the family. She has nightmares about Tiro where her mother died in pain.  Her grandparents were ashamed of her mother so they put her in an abandoned cattle

What did you like about the book?

Chanda has the courage to go to her teacher Mr Selalame and talk to him about her problems. Her nightmares and what her mothers family did to her mother.

What was your favourite part of the book?

All of it.

How many stars would you give this book? Colour the stars.

(5 – Excellent, 1 – Poor)

I give this book five stars. It is very interesting and a touching book. No one can read Chanda’s Wars and remain untouched by the young people who are caught in the AIDS pandemic and still battling to make sense of their lives.

Tang-gram shapes

In maths I have been learning how to make different shapes with only seven pieces of tang-ram.

What I learnt in Maths

L.I.

I have learnt to solve addition fraction involving different denominators and simplifying the fractions.

1/4 + 2/8 =

1 x 8 = 8 = 1/8

4 x 2 = 8 = 1/8

1/4 becomes a 1/8 and 2/8 stays the same. So therefore 1/8 + 2/8 = 38

German Lifestyle

German People Lifestyle

German people are very nice and comforting people,they bring people into their house if they need a place to stay for a couple of nights, and they are very fair people. They love to help others and share their belongings with other people. Germans let their friends use their belongings and expect it to come back in perfect conditions.

Germans love visiting the Berlin wall, they are tall people and love their culture. In Germany their religions are very important to them. Germans love celebrations and alcohol. They usually eat sausages and love their meat. Germans love going to the museum and the Berlin theatre. Every year they roll out the red carpet and watch over 400 films and celebrate the Berlin wall that kept them between the cold world war.

Germans have passion for their food, the most popular saying in Germany is “ Breakfast like and emperor, lunch like a beggar’. A typical German breakfast includes a selection of breads, cereals, cheese and meats.  Fish is eaten in the north. Immigrants have also brought their cuisine to the country. Asian, Italian and Turkish restaurants can be found in most cities.  German people are also good bike riders, they manage to look elegant whilst free-wheeling down  cobbled streets. They are also highly at dept riding with umbrellas.  Germans can ride without any hands and are known for their good bike skills. Germans are really good at anything they do but if they are not good at it, they would try their very hardest to get any better at it.  German people can speak proper English then English people.

Germans do not appreciate the rude finger when driving. If you give it to a fellow driver, that driver reserves the right to report you and your license plate and you will get a fine. Germans seem to enjoy camping and staying out of their houses. Germans actually respect quiet time on Sundays, when they vacuum, use lawn mowers or other loud objects and generally keep it at a low level of noise.

The Feast Day Of St Pius X

The Feast Day of St Pius X was on Wednesday but we celebrated it today. The whole of Saint Pius had Mass to celebrate the feast day of St Pius our pope. We then went into the hall and had a cake. We sang happy birthday and cut the cake. Pope Pius was a poor boy, he lived poor, grew up to be poor and wish to die poor. He even walked to school with bear feet because he didn't want his new pear of shoes dirty.

Mentoring

Music Mentoring
For four weeks a group of students made two songs. They wrote there own lyrics and and some help from a professional song writer and producer. My group wrote a song about the Islands and here are the lyrics :

Stars in Heaven shining down on us, shining bright so we can see the right path,

Yeah we back in the islands and we don't wanna leave just kicking back here feeling the cool summer breeze you know it's true cos its just me and you walking through the path seeing pretty palm trees. That is the lyrics my group wrote about the islands and the video will be up soon.
First of all we brain stormed our ideas of words we would like to put in our song, my group just came up with random words and suddenly we thought of back home in the islands. We then came up with these wonderful lyrics.
We then jammed on some instruments and came up with a sound. We put it together and made a nice hummable beat. Finally we put our lyrics together with the beat and made this song. We recorded our song and did some editing and final touch's. The video will be posted up soon.

Report Cross Country

Cross country

Cross country is a sporting event where you run long distance. Where  schools, class’s and people run for race’s. Some cross country's are held around the world where you can bike or run.
Standing at the start line, waiting for that brick to smack together, suddenly, “ BANG” Off we ran. Together as a group the girls ran slowly and tried to keep up with each other. Time was ticking, we were running, huffing, puffing and slowly running.

I ran past the church and down the hill looked back and saw a lot of people. I soon became tired and lost my breath, talking well running really made me tired. It came to the second hill and I had already started walking. I felt good because I knew all the 12 yr old girls will come a place. After going up that hill, my friend and I started running then we stopped and ran again.  We often stopped running to catch our breath and then will just stand and talk. I was at the end of the race but then I was told one more round, I just felt like disappearing. I picked up my legs and started running for my second round.

I barely ran the second one round, I was so tired I stopped running then walked. I would often stop to catch my breath and start running again. Every time I had finished going up hills, I would stretch my legs then start running. I jogged the last couple of miles and when I was at the church, I walked slowly to the finish line.

Some face turned to see who was the last to arrive at the finish line, luckily I was not last. I was happy the race had finish, actually I was relieved.
